Dear Ridgewood Community,
Last Tuesday evening, Professor Zoltan Hajnal, Professor of Political Science and Associate Dean at UC San Diego’s School of Global Policy and Strategy, joined us via Zoom to discuss why on-cycle elections matter. And today his piece, “New Jersey’s local elections should be rescheduled to be more representative,” is featured in the Bergen Record and the Ridgewood News.
Click here to read Professor Hajnal’s piece, in which he writes, “Moving to on-cycle elections is not only the right thing to do. It is actually possible. At the end of the day, the question is simple. Do we want local democracy run by the few or the many?”
And click here to view the slides from our Zoom Virtual Coffee Hour. Professor Hajnal shared his expertise and research on the local benefits of November elections around the country. In addition, we discussed the Ridgewood-specific benefits, and addressed some of the more common concerns we have heard from some neighbors.
We appreciate everyone’s support and remind you to vote YES on the Municipal Question on Page 3 of your ballots.
